Trip Overview

Although Everest remains the focal point of the trek to Base Camp, the trail is surrounded on all sides by many other peaks of varying altitude and grandeur, all formidable summits in their own right. The grandeur of the world’s highest mountain is best appreciated when reaching Gorak Shep. The colorful Saturday market in Namche Bazaar provides a glimpse of this traditional and busy commercial center of the Solu-Khumbu region. At Tengboche there will be the opportunity to visit the world famous monastery and gain an insight into the lives of the monks and the Buddhist way of life. It is at this monastery that many expeditions aiming for the summit of Everest go to ask for a blessing from the Lamas, so as not to offend the mountain deity and for a safe journey.
