  • Day 2

    Charaundi

After breakfast we drive to Charaundi (03 hours), our starting point for this trip. Upon arrival, we will unload our rafting equipment and afterwards our tour leader will give a brief presentation on this trip and the paddling techniques. During the day, we have a number of rapids from 2 to 3. All the rapids have received Nepali and English names: our guide can tell the story behind each of them. We have lunch on a remarkable beach for its unique carved rocks. Shortly after lunch, we enter Trishuli Gorge. As the canyon narrows, the walls become steep, densely wooded, the current accelerates and the rapids increase in size and frequency.

Today, we see the Majhi (fisherman) throwing his nets on Trishuli who is only the source of their life. Our last fast, Jholungepul, is named for an extended suspension bridge. Here we often meet an eusnthiastic public, they line the excited bridge to see us pass underneath. We camp at Kurintar on a sandy beach on Trishuli beach. Everyone is welcome to help our team with camp tasks. Once the tents are set up, a tasty dinner will be prepared over the stoves.

After we continue to descend the Trishuli stopping to suit our interests. We spend the whole day in its wooded canyon, one of the many in the Mahabharat range. We have lunch by the river and have time to explore, observe the birds, photograph and learn more about the local people. The area is inhabited by farmers Magars and Gurung, known for their kindness and charm, and we have the opportunity to visit Vieira and we finish our trip on the river back to Kathmandu.
